The Image Of Men Smoking Was Expected In The Past
In the past, smoking men were considered sexy and rebellious. A man smoking was a common sight. Back then smoking was allowed everywhere so men could be seen smoking everywhere. Men were smoking in grocery stores, in offices, in movie theaters, in doctors offices, and in places where it would be unthinkable to smoke today like around kids or even in bed. Men who smoked were seen in the past as strong, masculine, take charge kind of men. That image of men who smoked convinced many men to start smoking. Smoking And Men Health The number of men that smoke is rapidly declining. Statistics show that women and men who continue cigarette smoking will develop serious health problem throughout their lives and because of that more men are starting to quit smoking. The effects of smoking for males are similar to that of females. Everyone who smokes can develop lung, throat or mouth cancer that could be deadly if they smoke. Male smokers have a high risk of heart disease and other cardiopulmonary problems from smoking. The long term effects of smoking in males prove that men who smoke for many years have a very high risk of heart attack and stroke directly as a result fro smoking. Men can also feel the effects of smoking when it comes to fertility. The effects of smoking on a male’s fertility can lead to reproductive problems or even infertility. Images Of Men And Smoking Changing Even though a cigar smoking man is still considered sexy a man who smoke cigarettes is not considered sexy. A smoking man might find that a woman would prefer someone who doesn’t smoke or smokes a cigar. For example, a woman would probably find the image of a well dressed man smoking a cigar more attractive than an image of a poorly dressed man standing in front of a car smoking a cigarette. In the media smoking man images try to sell cigarettes by selling the idea that men who smoke are rugged individuals but in reality most men are more concerned with their health than their image. Many male smokers are actively trying to live in a more healthy way that includes quitting smoking. Younger men sometimes still see smoking as a cool or rebellious act but their loved ones should try to get them to see that smoking is not cool or rebellious, just dangerous.
